Upper Kirby Leica Cameras, Japanese Porcelain, and Vintage Garage Tools

A fifty-year Upper Kirby collection, from Leica cameras to flagstones

The original owners of this Upper Kirby house spent decades filling it, and the whole collection is being sold. Cameras are a centerpiece: Leica bodies, Leitz lenses, antique Zeiss optics, a Beseler enlarger, and more photography equipment. Antique and vintage furniture runs through the rooms. Shelves hold porcelain and decorative pieces from Japan and East Asia, military collectibles from a lifetime of service, coins, bank notes, handmade quilts, vintage clothing, and row after row of books.

The kitchen is packed with vintage appliances, flatware, drinkware, and decor. Elsewhere there are vintage electronics, radios, several typewriters in strong condition, and antique sewing machines. The garage is a tool picker's room, with vintage and rusty goods stacked from the floor to the ceiling and spilling into the driveway.

The house is scheduled to be torn down, so fixtures are for sale, including a large group of mid-century solid-wood shutters in both small and large sizes. The backyard is paved in flagstones, and those stones are available too.

Security, payment, and house rules

Armed security is on site whenever the sale is open, and video cameras cover the premises. Jewelry and firearms are taken off the property by armed security at the end of each day.

Large purses, backpacks, and bags are not permitted. Children under 14 may not attend. Food, drinks, and pets are not allowed, except for service animals.

Sales tax is added to every purchase. Credit cards are accepted only when the purchase is over $50. Bring your own help to carry what you buy. Staff will not move furniture or other heavy pieces. If you break an item, you are required to pay for it.

All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges, so examine each piece before you pay. Prices are not given ahead of time, and phone calls asking what an item costs will not be answered. The company may decline to sell any item and may ask a shopper to leave without giving a reason. Rude or inappropriate behavior toward staff or other customers is not tolerated. Anyone who is disorderly will be escorted out and banned from future sales and customer events.

Tax-exempt buyers must present a tax-exempt sales certificate, and a copy has to be left with the cashier. For a company to be exempt, that certificate must already be on file with the estate sale company, as required by the comptroller's office.
