More than a thousand yards of quilting fabric from a serious buyer fill this Richmond house, along with sewing machines, rulers, patterns, full quilt kits, and notions. A lighthouse collection and pug decor run through the rooms.
Furniture covers the living room, dining room, and bedrooms. Closets hold contemporary and vintage clothing. There is sterling silver and vintage costume jewelry, vintage stereo equipment, DVDs, and VHS tapes. Holiday tables are stacked with ornaments, lights, wreaths, and stockings. The garage holds hand tools, power tools, yard tools, and camping gear. Appliances include a refrigerator-freezer, a washer, and a dryer.
Armed security is on site the whole time, and video cameras cover the premises. Jewelry and firearms are taken off the property by armed security at the end of each day. Large purses, backpacks, and bags are not allowed inside. Food, drinks, and pets are not allowed, except service animals. Children under 14 may not attend.
Bring your own help to carry what you buy. Staff will not move purchases. If you break something, you pay for it. Sales tax is added to every purchase. Credit cards are accepted only when the purchase is over $50. Nothing is pre-priced, and the company does not answer calls asking what an item costs. The company may decline to sell any item and may ask anyone to leave without an explanation.
All sales are final. Look over each piece before you pay; there are no refunds or exchanges. Tax-exempt buyers must show a tax-exempt sales certificate and leave a copy with the cashier. For a company to be exempt, that certificate must already be on file with the estate sale company, as required by the comptroller's office. Rude or inappropriate behavior toward staff or other shoppers is not tolerated. Anyone who is unruly will be escorted out and banned from future sales.
